Get a true taste of the quintessential middle-eastern desert landscape as you quickly cycle through isolated desert on caravan tracks before crossing the Desert Highway and cycling along Wadi Rum Road to the entrance of one of the most majestic sites in Jordan.
After Abbasiya, cycle through desert sand tracks on a long gradual downhill. Then cycle from a smaller road onto the access road along the Desert Highway for a short stretch before turning off onto an off-road section.
Cycle uphill on sand tracks for about 3km, then still off road cycle 12 km downhill past remote British military bases and an industrial park until reaching the intersection of Wadi Rum Road and Desert Highway. Cross the highway and cycle the final 20 km of the day on the flat Wadi Rum Road to the entrance of the Protected Reserve. Congrats, you have now made it to the Valley of the Moon and the second site of the “Golden Triangle” in the South.
Moderate – Some steep slopes and avoidable obstacles. May have to push bike for short stretches. One physically challenging incline along dirt track.
