The central region of the trail traverses up and down four major canyons and their wadis: Zarqa Ma’in, Hidan, Mujib, and Hasa; then the route curls around Kerak Castle, and finishes in the 500-year old village of Dana situated at the end of a natural gorge with stunning views.
This section is very challenging with long ascents up canyons and then long descents into the valleys. Along the central region, the terrain includes mostly dirt tracks with roads providing support for some of the major climbs. Additionally, the landscape in this section changes substantially from the green and forested north to dramatic canyons and valleys that define the central region.
