Starting from the 500-year-old village of Dana, travel along the ancient trade route of the King’s Highway, before cutting through the desert and climbing to a finish at the Crusader castle in Shobak.
From Dana village, the route ascends on road and dirt track passing the town of Al-Qadisiyah, with great views across to the right. The route then continues for a short section on the Kings Highway, the ancient trade route between Damascus, passing through Jordan to Egypt and Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
The route passes Wadi Ghwayr to the west, before leaving the main highway, and descending on dirt tracks. The trail follows the side of the hill down, before ascending through the desert along ancient towns with stone remains to Shobak Castle. The castle was one of several Crusader castles along the Kings Highway.
Moderate – Some steep slopes and avoidable obstacles. May have to push bike for short stretches. One physically challenging off-road incline, and then one long gradual incline along road.
